(From an interview with client Marc Broussard) I wrote with a lot of people who I have never written with before for this record. However, there was one particular song that we cut for this record that I wrote years ago with guy called Sean McConnell. And Sean then proved to me that he was one of the most prolific writers I had ever seen in his ability to take broad concepts that are thrown at him and compile them into amazing lyrics. Once we tracked the song that he and I wrote years ago, I called him and said, “Dude, come to the studio, Check this track out.” He happened to be in town. Comes over to the studio. Hears the song. It sounds cool as hell. It’s actually a song that didn’t even make the record. However, when the guys broke for lunch, as soon as we were done listening to the track, I say to Sean, “Hey, I’m not really hungry? You hungry? You ate already? OK. Let’s go write a song.” And we sat in the tracking room. Paul Moak jumped in there with us. And I whipped out a song that I’ve been trying to write FOREVER, since we started making this record, that was just like … I’m trying to remember how I started it, because I started it differently than it ended up making the record. Anyways, the song turned out to be “Hurricane Heart” and it was written in like 30 minutes on a lunch break in the tracking room after Sean had come just to hear the song that we didn’t even put on the record!
