A shot from today's interview with singer-songwriter Michelle Ariane, who called in from Switzerland. She was lovely. I was... well... me. We discussed the intertwining of vulnerability and strength, which is one of the ideas running through her new album, "Bridge The Great Divide." Stay tuned for the interview.
From today's interview with Big Sam of Big Sam's Funky Nation. We talked New Orleans, Funk music, and the live stream shows the band has been doing from Sam's driveway. Looking to have it posted in the next week or two.
I go to several concerts a year (in normal times). I still buy entire albums on CD or vinyl. I am online a lot and I am on social media a lot. However, I almost never comment on posts and I rarely click the like button. That doesn't mean I am not absorbing a band's content. But it does mean that the social media sites have no way to value me. In fact, even though I spend money on bands and their music, the social media sites consider me less valuable than someone who spends no money on music but leaves emojis in every post. And from what I have found in my research, there are a lot of people like me out there. In short: Social media stats mean nothing. Ignore them.
