Bill Gibson: The influence of his father

12/7/2017

Content developed with Huey Lewis & The News...

Bill Gibson: My dad was a frustrated jazz drummer. He was an architect by trade, but he just loved big band jazz and I was raised on big band jazz. He’d take me to see Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich and Art Blakey and all these great drummers. He would always tell me, “Watch his left hand.” Of course, you couldn’t see his left hand, it was going so fast. That’s the kind of stuff he loved. He turned me on to it and I’m grateful for it.
