Numbers Don't Always Equal Dollars

Some bands become obsessed with their follower numbers on social media. They do anything they can to increase that stat. They:

Place ads that attract people who really don't care about them or their music.
Pay services that boost their numbers using fake accounts.
Post content that they are embarrassed to have associated with their name, but that is trendy today.

As a result, I know of bands with over a million followers on Facebook who could not sell out any venue larger than a public restroom stall.

Build a following of real fans and you will have a music career. Desperately increase your follower numbers through any means available and you will have a music hobby that you support with a day job.

I have always wanted to see a concert at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Colorado. Saturday I finally got the chance. One of my favorite moments was hanging out on stage while clients Big Head Todd and the Monsters ran through their sound check.
