Cris: It is interesting because you have such an intellectual approach to drumming. Is it odd that you went into (a) music as a career and (b) the drums?
Ben Sesar (drummer for Brad Paisley): But there is an intellectualism to it. Liberty DeVitto is a great example. Just because he doesn't read music, doesn't mean he can't speak it. I wasn't lucky enough to just walk around and be great at everything. So it all starts with the question, “How do I do this?” I've never had a teacher. I'm analytical because everything since I was a kid was, “Let's figure it out.” "Back when I was really young and singing in bands, I was just doing what everybody else wanted to do. Now as I have gotten older and more seasoned with what I'm doing, I've found my truth." - client Laura Tate
I think that one reason I am good at my job is that I am really dull. Many other social media agencies are distracted because their people have lives. They regularly go out to networking events, conferences, and secret parties where you can only get in by knowing a password and a complicated handshake.
Most of the time I work in my office. When I am feeling wild, I will work at the kitchen table. One advantage of my dullness is that I am reliable. I spend most of my waking hours with my computer. In some cultures we would be considered married. "There are certain things you do and you already know what to expect. But when you walk into a situation that's unfamiliar and you don't know what to expect, that's where I think the growth is. Because you're not familiar, you're in uncharted waters." - Troy Luccketta of Tesla the Band
